Fragments from Ecaden — Issue #3

An avatar with brown hair, yellow eyes, and dragon horns.

Hello Reader,

Welcome to another newsletter, so far the beginnings of May have been spent weaving edits into the second book, and a new series where tragedy is inevitable (no happy endings to be had here!).

If you have been following my social medias, you may have seen a new face; my lovely avatar was made by Shikamoto on VGen, who captured the design perfectly.

Book Fragments of the Church

So far, this is what has happened and been written in the world of Ecaden:

  • A father and son at each other's throats
  • A crisis of faith and self in the self-assured priest Agapetus
  • A magus making a quiet choice that leaves Sullivan suffering

And a small excerpt, written in ink:

Standing inside this lonely office, where the sun was now setting with warm sunlight illuminating his pale skin, and tinting the colors of his stained glass window with hope …
… now only shone with a glimmering hopelessness, leaving him to close his golden eyes.
He only had one option: he would save his salvation from whatever the goddess planned.

From the Archives

One interesting detail within the world of Ecaden is that dragons possess over two hundred known color variations—though, contrary to popular belief, those colors mean absolutely nothing. The most common among them are purple and yellow.

Penned Recommendations

One recent read I’ve greatly enjoyed is Copper Coins by Mu Su Li.

If you enjoy danmei with adventures and light-hearted comedy woven between quieter emotional moments, I’d absolutely recommend giving it a read.

Beyond the Church Walls

Until Next Time

More edits, tragedies, and quiet revelations await. Thank you for reading and walking these church halls with me awhile longer.
