July has been moving quickly, folding itself into the height of summer, and I find myself once again between reading and writing even more than I intended. Ecaden continues to take shape in the background, quietly and persistently, blossoming into many stories I await to share with you all. Book 3 and 4 are already on their way of being written and revised, and Book 2's release slowly approaches.
More Ways to Read Ecaden's Crown
If Amazon isn't your preferred ebook store, The Dragon's Salvation is now available through itch.io as well! You can choose from multiple formats, including EPUB, PDF, and MOBI. Future books in the series will also be available through itch.io, with Kobo editions coming soon.
ARCs for The Dragon's War are still open until mid-August!
No need to have read Book 1 (a primer is available), and we're looking for readers who enjoy M/M romance, dark fantasy, religious horror, dragons, and character-driven stories.
In the time that has passed, here is what has happened in the world of Ecaden:
Mammon, the demon within a god bone, now has to face his end of the bargain made with Sullivan.
Sullivan's sister, Bo, faces the fact that he is gone ... and the head of the assassins cares not for him.
Sullivan finally caves to the poisons of the magus, and Agapetus has to take drastic measures to save his life.
And a small excerpt, written in ink:
“
Sullivan was thrown off, what did he mean? The magus twisted himself up and off the floor, handing him a mirror … … but he didn’t see any changes.
His hair was still black, and his eyes were still dark—
Were they always that shade of black though?
He started to feel like his head swirled, and Agapetus took the mirror away, snarling for a moment. “This is a regular mirror, this couldn’t possibly show him any changes.”
Cellwater laughed. “It is! I loved the scared expression he had! Let us show him the truth and see his true terror!”
He handed Sullivan a different mirror.
His black eyes were now silver, and the white hair hidden beneath the dye showed through.
“This mirror is called ‘Truth.’ Anything of the real you will show up, hidden features and all.”
As Sullivan could see Cellwater slightly in frame, he saw a flash of golden, writhing tentacles—the assassin put the mirror down.
Penned Recommendations
The media recommendation for this dispatch is Iron Lung. If you're a fan of Markiplier, you've probably already heard about this film. If not, and you enjoy suspense, horror, and an almost absurd amount of fake blood, it's well worth checking out.
I thought Mark's performance was excellent, making full use of the film's claustrophobic setting while capturing the tension and atmosphere of the original indie game beautifully.
