Fragments from Ecaden — Issue #8

Hello Reader,

August is coming to an end, and autumn is just around the corner. There’s only one more month until The Dragon’s War is out, and ARC readers are now making their way through the book. I’m excited to start seeing their thoughts on it.

If you’ve been interested in getting into the series, there’s a week-long sale happening for The Dragon’s Salvation. It’s also now available on Kobo and Kobo Plus, alongside itch.io for those who’d prefer an alternative route.

Book 1 Sale

If you’ve been meaning to start Ecaden’s Crown, now is a good time.

The Dragon’s Salvation is $0.99 for one week only, giving new readers a chance to catch up before The Dragon’s War arrives on September 30th.

Agapetus has spent his life serving a goddess he believes in. Sullivan was sent to kill him. Neither of them expected the bond between them—and neither is prepared for what it means when their faith begins to fracture.

Book Fragments of the Church

As book 2 progresses into its final stages, the fragments will soon shift to another story ... one about a Paladin who has longed for a response from his god, while remaining trapped in the servitude of another.

And a small excerpt, written in ink:

“
There’s an end to every story, just as a beginning to all. The endings are hardly determined by who lives it, only by who writes it. And the hero of this tale started when no one other god wanted him, and now, he faces the price of that.

“Listen Robin, do you know how sinned you are to have that gift placed upon you?” An echo of a memory bled in his head, making his skull throb. He wanted to throw up. Those words echoed often for him. How dare he be under a god that never showed himself?

Such a tragic tale, but he would wait until it was signs to go do what the god wanted. He found his god was kind enough to save him, surely. But it was a truly lonely path.

Fallen gods have no right to cherish a moral, they have no rights in the eyes of other gods to hold them in hostage for their powers. Yet, the stars do not listen, they scream out, and something else grabbed his hands once. During the picking, that was all he had.

Penned Recommendations

For fans of botanical horror and heart-wrenching stories, Don’t Let the Forest In is one of my biggest recommendations. It’s a great end-of-summer read, or, if you’re already looking ahead to Halloween, a suitably creepy one to pick up.

It’s also a good introduction to C.G. Drews’ work in general. Hazelthorn is another one of their books that I’ve read and enjoyed, so clearly I’ve found my way into their repertoire and stayed there.

Beyond the Church Walls

There are a couple of group promos full of indie books this time around and one wonderful sci-fi book for those interested in aliens brought to Earth by a rift—and one man with the knowledge to change the entire world.

Walls: The Nexus Chrnonicles by Beverly L. Anderson

When the Nexus opened, rifts brought four alien realms—and their impossible creatures—to Earth. Humanity survived behind fortified walls, but the danger remains.

Alastair MacMillan knows the truth about the Nexus. With his father’s final secret, he must choose: use it to save the world, or let it die.

Until Next Time

The next dispatch will arrive alongside the release of The Dragon’s War, so join me on September 30th for the beginning of a new journey! Thank you for coming along with me on this journey. There’s still plenty more to come, and I’m excited to show you what I have in the works for the future.
